FLIR Systems received a more than $50 million order from DOD for DR-SKO systems

FLIR Systems, Inc. recently received a delivery order valued at $54.2 million from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) for 50 U.S. Army chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear dismounted reconnaissance sets, kits and outfit (CBRN DR-SKO) systems.

The order is part of a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract in support of the DOD’s Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense DR-SKO Program of Record.

FLIR said deliveries are to be extended through the second quarter of 2018.

DR-SKO system kits are mission-specific tools that, according to FLIR, “characterize and provide full-spectrum CBRN dismounted reconnaissance capability utilized by the U.S. Military Joint Services.”

The Army-backed program was launched in 2008 with FLIR serving as its primary contractor.

“We are honored to continue providing our turnkey DR-SKO solution that addresses the current and emerging threats by equipping U.S. soldiers with the best-in-class technology for their mission,” Andy Teich, president and CEO of FLIR, said.

Teich said the delivery solidified the company’s continued support to provide mission-critical solutions to ensure the country’s safety and maintain FLIR’s position as a leader in the CBRN market.

The contract was first awarded in December 2014 and has since delivered more than 100 CBRN DR-SKO systems to the DOD.
