U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently announced its intent to hire military veterans at the Military Job Fair scheduled last week in Baltimore, Maryland.
“Customs and Border Protection is hiring, and we’re offering qualified candidates an opportunity to pursue a challenging and rewarding law enforcement career while also helping us to protect America,” CBP recruiter Kayla Etheridge said. “Whether on the frontline or behind the scenes, CBP needs eligible applicants to fill critical border security and law enforcement positions across the country.”
CBP noted that the positions for hire were full-time, uniformed jobs that require regular qualification and the carrying of a firearm. Paid training will also be included for new hires at CBP’s Field Operations Academy, located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia.
All applicants must be citizens of the United States, a resident for at least the last three years, have a valid driver’s license, pass a medical examination, and pass a series of fitness and drug tests.
Once hired, CBP officers oversee a variety of operations including traveler inspection, passenger and cargo analysis, seizure of contraband, interdiction of agricultural pests and diseases, and oversee the admission of persons at 328 ports of entry throughout the United States.
