U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is offering an expedited NEXUS enrollment process for the Ice Hockey World Juniors Championship, which will be held in Buffalo from Dec. 26, 2017 through Jan. 5, 2018.
CBP is offering the expedited enrollment through Oct. 13 to residents of the Buffalo-Niagara region in both the United States and Canada.
Members of the NEXUS program will be able to travel quickly into the U.S. and Canada through dedicated lanes and cross the border on the Whirlpool Bridge in Niagara Falls. NEXUS membership also includes the benefits of Global Entry, which is located at most major airports, TSA Pre-Check, and expedited processing for boaters.
The fee to apply for adults is $50, and children under the age of 18 are free. The cards are good for five years once approved. After five years, participants can renew their membership.
To qualify for the expedited enrollment process, applicants must complete the online application process and request the expedited by Oct. 13. They must also participate in an interview with CBP officials at an enrollment center located in Fort Erie, Canada, or the Whirlpool Bridge in Niagara Falls, New York.
