The global security and risk management advisory firm known as The Chertoff Group has become one of a select few companies to be granted a SAFETY Act “qualified anti-terrorism technology” designation for its methodology by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The company uses what they call Security Risk Management Methodology for risk management, business strategy, and merchant banking advisory services. The methodology helps clients assess, counter and monitor both in-person and online risks to their associates and assets, in the process helping them flesh out security measures and recover from threats. Its advantage is its modular adaptability, allowing it to be altered to fit individual organizations, which the firm supplements through risk monitoring services that evaluate the efforts such organizations have made.
“Achieving SAFETY Act designation is a key milestone in the continued advancement of our firm’s thought leadership and advisory services capabilities,” Chad Sweet, co-founder and CEO of The Chertoff Group, said. “It puts us in a unique position to help our clients buy down security risk while also addressing liability protection.”
For SAFETY Act approval, Chertoff had to prove the effectiveness of its method and its capability for immediate deployment. The act itself is meant to support counterterrorism, in both hardware and software services. It’s a fact of the modern world, according to the Global Terrorism Database, that 5,367 terrorist attacks targeted businesses between 2001 and 2016–and those efforts see no sign of abating.
