El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Highway 111 checkpoint recently discovered 6.44 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $22,540 strapped to a 14-year-old girl’s chest.
The girl, an American citizen, arrived at the checkpoint as a passenger in a vehicle with three other male occupants. Agents referred the vehicle to secondary inspection to check the passengers’ immigration status.
When agents questioned the girl, they noticed that her chest was highly elevated and oddly shaped. They then discovered that had packages strapped around her upper torso. Agents tested the packages’ contents, and the tests indicated properties consistent with methamphetamine.
Agents turned the girl over, along with the narcotics, to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
So far, in fiscal year 2018, El Centro Sector has seized approximately 239 pounds of methamphetamine.
