Raytheon announced Wednesday that will be upgrading its Patriot Air and Missile Defense System under a $235 million modernization task order from the U.S. Army.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced the task order Monday. The United States and the other 13 Patriot partner nations that rely on Patriot for integrated air and missile defense will provide the funds.
Raytheon will receive the indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity task order awards annually for five years. The awards have a total contract ceiling of more than $235 million.
“The 14 Patriot partner nations share the cost of further improving the system through upgrades,” Tom Laliberty, vice president of Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems business, said. “As a result, all partner nations will be able to continue outpacing and defeating even the most advanced threats.”
The projects will include improving Patriot’s ability to counter advanced electronic countermeasures and its ability to conduct combat identification, enhancing its interoperability with higher echelon systems, developing advanced training aids, and upgrading hardware.
