Two Chicago men were indicted on federal drug charges on March 7 for allegedly conspiring with others to ship a fentanyl derivative from China to 19 addresses in the Chicago area.
Sanchez Lackland, 35, of Hazel Crest, Illinois, and Jermol Mixon, 35, of Orland Park, Illinois, were both charged with drug and weapons offenses in an indictment returned in federal court on March 7.
Federal agents executed a search warrant at Lackland’s home in December and seized heroin, methoxyacetyl fentanyl, acryl fentanyl, a loaded revolver and $300,000 in cash. The indictment alleges that agents then observed Lackland deliver a package to Mixon’s home.
Upon searching Mixon’s home, federal agents seized materials used to make drugs, heroin, methoxyacetyl fentanyl, acryl fentanyl, $10,000 in cash, and a loaded gun, according to the indictment. Both Lackland and Mixon are convicted felons who are not allowed to possess firearms.
U.S. Attorney John Lausch, Jr., U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations in Chicago Special Agent in Charge James Gibbons, Drug Enforcement Administration Chicago Field Division Special Agent in Charge Brian McKnight, and U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Chicago Acting Inspector-in-Charge Bill Hedrick announced the indictment on Monday.
Lackland and Mixon were arraigned in federal court on Wednesday.
