The August Terror Threat Snapshot, released by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), found a steady influence of Islamic-driven terrorism in the United States and Europe.

The report showed that there have been 157 cases of terrorism in the United States spurred by the notion of Jihad since 2013. These cases were spread across 30 states, including Alaska, California, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin.

While not all resulted in actual attacks, the cases examined in the report included plots to carry out attacks, financial support for terror groups, cases of lying to authorities, weapons charges, and overseas travel.

Research for the terror snapshot also included ISIS-specific terrorism cases in Europe. Therein, the report showed that 232 cases have occurred since 2013, among 18 countries. France, the United Kingdom, and Germany have seen the majority of these cases.

Among the ISIS-connected plots against the West, 82 cases were linked to explosives, 59 cases surrounded edged weapons, and 22 cases showed the increasing danger of vehicular terrorism.
