Five Military Construction projects in upstate New York have received $199.1 million in federal funding from the Fiscal Year 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
“New York State is home to some of the nation’s top military installations,”
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee, said. “It is vital that the men and women who serve our country have the best facilities possible and that our military research installations have the resources they need to continue providing intelligence and advanced technology for our national defense. I fought for these provisions in the Armed Services Committee and will always work to ensure the safety of our service members and the readiness of our military.”
The projects are $95 million to West Point Military Academy for the construction of an engineering center; $65 million to West Point for the construction of a parking structure; $14.2 million to the Air Force Research Rome Lab for a perimeter fence; $14 million to the Niagara Falls Reserve Station for the construction of a physical fitness center; and $10.9 million to Kenneth A. Kesselring Naval Nuclear Reactor Site for a plant project.
Funding keeps military assets modernized and ready, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said.
