Two Battelle employees are being recognized by the company for stellar service, garnering Inventor of the Year and CEO Awards, respectively.
Senior Research scientist Wesley Pirkle was named Inventor of the Year for significant contributions to several crucial security programs. Ron Townsend, executive vice president for laboratory operations, was presented the CEO Award in recognition of his leadership of Battelle’s business of managing Department of Energy and Department of Homeland Security national laboratories for 10 years.
Townsend capped 2018 by leading Battelle’s successful win of the largest national lab contract award in its organization’s history—Los Alamos National Lab.
“Wes’s inventions are strong examples of technologies that are deployed for the good of society, and we applaud him for that,” Lou Von Thaer, Battelle president and CEO, said. “His work is a great example of the efforts that are put forth every day by scientists and researchers at Battelle.
