U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said the agency’s recently published Strategy 2021-2026 introduces new mission and vision statements describing commitment to a safer and more prosperous nation.
The document also addresses mission priorities describing the core in a succinct and meaningful manner, outlining a commitment to a set of 12 strategic objectives introduced in 2019.
“Great organizations have strong identities,” CBP Acting Commissioner Mark A. Morgan said. “They have an unshakeable sense of purpose. And they adapt to change effectively and efficiently, recognizing that change is constant and inevitable. Our ability to deliver on our mission depends on our ability to navigate through change in the present, embracing it as we plan for the future while never losing sight of our purpose.”
CBP’s vision statement enhances the nation’s security through innovation, intelligence, collaboration, and trust. The new mission statement is protecting the American people, safeguarding the nation’s borders, and enhancing its economic prosperity.
The strategic objectives, per authorities, address counter network; awareness and enforcement; secure and compliant trade; biometric identification; targeting and vetting; stakeholder experience; talent acquisition and workforce development; wellness and resilience; partnerships; data and analytics; IT infrastructure; and Intelligence.
The agency maintains the updated strategy demonstrates a commitment to a transparent and actionable plan providing national results.
