Howe & Howe Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Systems Corporation, recently unveiled the Thermite EV2, an all-electric firefighting robot, as well as a new handheld controller.

“It’s important that we give our first responders the best we have to offer so that they can complete their missions and return home safely,” Geoff Howe, senior vice president of Howe & Howe, said. “Our Thermite EV2 and new handheld controller were designed based on user feedback to give firefighters the most powerful tools we can deliver. Moving forward, we intend to apply our all-electric technology and handheld controller capability to future Thermite models.”

The technology effectively targets fires with its modular design that includes a multi-position nozzle and additional attachments. The Thermite EV2 is battery pack powered versus being powered via a combustible engine and the robot does not require oxygen for power.

The robots can navigate rugged terrain with a low chassis while withstanding exposure to extreme elements, commending the system’s advanced technology, mobility, and durability.

The company indicated the controller features an eight-inch screen and provides situational awareness with recording capabilities. Additionally, the controller receives regular software updates to ensure operators have the latest reliable technology at their fingertips.
