Brittany Global Technologies, based in New Bedford, Mass., has secured a $1.3 million Department of Defense (DoD) contract for industrial base production of Berry Amendment compliant fabrics for military uniforms.
“This increased capacity will ensure the U.S. government continues to have access to this domestic supplier,” Deborah Rosenblum, performing the duties of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy, said regarding the effort coinciding with nationwide COVID-19 response. “This investment will enable the company to respond to future surge requirements.”
The scope of work involves Brittany Global Technologies utilizing Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III funds to replace a 40-year old dye process – adding the new dye range enables the firm to increase production capacity on plain dye and printed camouflage fabrics by approximately 50 percent.
The funding allotment stems from Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act authorization and appropriation. The DPA Title III investment offsets financial distress derived from the COVID-19 pandemic while allowing Brittany Global Technologies to retain current staff.
