A second-generation Advanced Combat Helmet is coming soon to supplies of the United States Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), following its award of a $204 million, five-year contract to designer Avon Protection plc.
“This is another significant, multi-year helmet contract for Avon Protection, following the award for the U.S. Army next-generation Integrated Head Protection System,” Paul McDonald, CEO of Avon Protection, said. “By combining Ceradyne’s helmet shell moulding capabilities and Team Wendy’s helmet liner and retention system technologies, we have further enhanced our leadership position in helmet technology and broadened our portfolio, increasing our competitiveness in mid-specification ballistic helmets.”
Avon supplies both military and first responders.
First article testing should conclude in 2023, with initial revenues for Avon to follow in 2024. This latest contract includes a one-year period with a maximum value of $46 million and a minimum value of $7 million. To reach the potential $204 million max value, it comes with four one-year extension options, depending on the DLA’s interest and discretion.
