Engineering firm KBR has secured a Department of Defense (DoD) Information Analysis Center contract to support the Phased Array Tracking Radar to Intercept on Target (PATRIOT) missile defense system.
The scope of the $207 million contract involves analyzing PATRIOT’s overall performance while developing recommendations to bolster capabilities.
“KBR has provided uninterrupted systems engineering support to the PATRIOT missile system for decades,” KBR Government Solutions President Byron Bright said. “We’re proud to continue that support and to further our shared goal of protecting U.S. forces and allies through enhancing the capabilities of the PATRIOT missile system.”
Under the agreement, KBR would execute extensive and complex analyses; studies; performance runs; actual live fire, search, track, and flight test missions; and develop and test activities validating full ground and missile system performance.
PATRIOT serves as a critical component to the nation’s air and missile defense, protecting ground forces and assets by countering a range of enemy tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned air vehicles (UAV).
According to KBR, the work executed during the five-year contract will be primarily performed at Redstone Arsenal Government facilities and KBR offices in Huntsville, Ala.
KBR employs approximately 29,000 people globally and has clients in over 80 countries, with operations in 40 nations.
