The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) recently developed and released a new virtual insider threat training course for badged employees at airports nationwide.
The training is meant to help these aviation workers recognize and report suspicious behaviors and activities potentially indicative of threats to airport safety. It also defines what these threats mean and some of the reasons people head down that path. Rather than generalize, though, the training goes into specific, observable behavioral indicators and lays out the security responsibilities of each employee.
“This important training is an element of the TSA Insider Threat Roadmap and my priorities in transportation security,” TSA Administrator David Pekoske said. “Solving the insider threat issue requires training, vigilance, and reporting, and I am confident this course will help our thousands of badged employees.”
According to Todd Hauptli, AAAE president and CEO, the training has been provided to nearly 40,000 airport badge holders since its launch in 2021. The course is being made available to said workers through AAAE’s training services at airports, through its computer-based training services, Digicast, and Interactive Employee Training.
