This week, a new solicitation from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) this week sought new Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) Anomaly Detection Algorithm solutions to increase inspection efficacy and reduce review times, and support analysis by CBP officers.

CBP’s goal for these solutions will be to provide automated conveyance inspection processes, from identifying anomalies and commodities to highlighting regions of interest and catching human smuggling attempts. ADA solutions would offer computer-assisted analysis of NII images and other data.

The solicitation will be multi-phased and include both submission and evaluation of a written solution brief, which could include a request for a full proposal. This will be handled through the Department of Homeland Security’s Commercial Solutions Opening process. CBP said that a solicitation is no guarantee of award and obligation of funds. However, multiple awards are expected to be distributed through 2024.

The government will not reimburse costs incurred by companies pursuing these briefs and submissions.
