Textron Systems Corporation subsidiary Howe & Howe, Inc. will introduce its Thermite EV1 firefighting robot during the FDIC International conference on April 24-29 in Indianapolis, Ind.
“Our EV1 is a powerful force multiplier for our heroes in fire response,” Howe & Howe Senior Vice President and Co-Founder Mike Howe said. “We built our Thermite fire fighting robots to extend our first responders’ sight, reach, and other senses, delivering them real-time situational awareness in high-risk zones of operation. These vehicles will redefine how we protect and support our emergency responders.”
According to Howe & Howe, the Thermite EV1 safely and effectively targets fires with a modular design that accommodates its multi-position, 700-gallon-per-minute nozzle, and additional available attachments.
Additionally, because it is powered with the latest high-capacity battery technology, manufacturers indicated the EV1 could move farther into high-temperature, oxygen-deprived environments, unlike equipment with traditional, fuel-consuming engines that have oxygen requirements for the drivetrain.
The EV1 provides firefighters a standoff range of over 300 meters and a run time of up to 20 hours, with Howe & Howe maintaining it possesses industrial-grade, belted rubber tracks designed to encounter the toughest terrains.
Howe & Howe will also display the Thermite EV2 firefighting robot at the 2023 FDIC International as part of the show’s Fire Rescue Station of the Future exhibit.
