During this summer, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led a nationwide effort to combat violent crime, and as of this week, the results have been released: more than 4,000 arrests, 2,500 drug and 1,600 weapons seizures, and the takedown of more than 50 organizations.

The campaign ran from May 29, 2023 to Sept. 4, 2023, uniting FBI field offices and state and local partners. Efforts focused on violent criminals, transnational criminal organizations, gang members and child predators. More than 700 children were identified over the course of the operation, along with more than 590 child locations.

“There’s no greater responsibility in law enforcement than making sure the neighborhoods and communities we serve are safe,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said. “This summer, the FBI worked shoulder to shoulder with our state and local partners to combat violent crime across the nation. But our work is far from done. We will continue to work tirelessly to protect Americans from the scourge of violent crime.”

At present, the FBI added that it perceives no overall, credible threat to the country.
