As a modification of an Indefinite Duration, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, Northrop Grumman Corporation is at work on a new mobile ground station technology under the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Maritime Targeting Cell – Expeditionary contract (MTC-X).

“We designed this innovative technology for warfighters in situations where mobility is crucial for mission execution,” Pablo Pezzimenti, vice president of integrated national systems for Northrop Grumman, said. “This platform provides the latest multi-domain data at their fingertips, allowing commanders to make the best decisions possible for any mission on land, air or sea.”

Meant to support the U.S. Marine Corps Force Design 2030 through information delivery that allows for critical, resilient decision-making against mission specific needs, the prototype will ideally provide direct, multi-domain data. It will also back the Department of Defense’s Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) mission to improve situations on any frontline, with new data capabilities for forward-deployed units and individual soldiers far from bases.

To achieve this, MTC-X will onboard data from multiple assets into a single system. As a result, the company said it would reduce sensor-to-shooter timelines, improve the efficacy of long-range shots and potentially improve the speed and agility of ground forces.
