U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently named Derrick W. Stamper as chief patrol agent of the Houlton Sector, effective Sept. 1.

Stamper began his career as a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office sheriff’s deputy in Christiansburg, Va. He joined the U.S. Border Patrol in 2008 as a member of USBP Academy Class 761 assigned to the Laredo North Station in Texas. He has held several leadership positions in the U.S. Border Patrol along the northern and southern borders. He also served as USNORTHCOM division chief and at USBP Headquarters in Washington, D.C., within the Law Enforcement Operations Directorate.

Prior to being appointed chief patrol agent, Stamper served as liaison and military adviser to the Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In his new role, Stamper will oversee border security operations across the northeastern United States, managing all aspects of border enforcement and fostering partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies.

“As chief patrol agent, I will ensure that the agents here in Maine have the resources, support, and leadership necessary to execute their mission effectively,” Stamper said. “Additionally, I will prioritize strengthening our relationships with state, local, and international partners to enhance domain awareness and drive collaborative law enforcement efforts that protect our communities and uphold the rule of law.”
