The U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence has named Brigadier General Linda J. Riedel of the South Carolina National Guard to serve as its deputy commanding general.
Officials said Riedle is expected to begin serving as the DCG in addition to her Brigadier General role, in January 2026. A seasoned Signal Officer with more than 30 years of service, Riedel brings experience and expertise to her new role, officials said.
“Brig. Gen. Riedel’s proven leadership and expertise in cyber operations will be invaluable to the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence,” South Carolina’s Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Robin B. Stilwell said. “Riedel is a strategic thinker who truly understands the complexities of the cyber environment.”
Riedel graduated from the Cyber War College at the National Defense University’s College of Information and Cyberspace, and is the state’s first commander of the 125th Cyber Protection Battalion. Her induction into the Citadel Academy of Engineers in April 2024 illustrates her commitment to innovation and technical excellence, officials said.
Riedel’s operational deployments include Operation Spartan Shield in Kuwait in 2023, commanding Task Force Echo II under U.S. Army Cyber Command in 2018, and Operation Join Guardian in Kosovo in 2012. She also deployed to Iraq in 2003 as a Signal Platoon Leader.
She currently serves as the Deputy Director of the DoD Cyber Institute at The Citadel and was previously association professor of military science and the SCARNG Cyber Project manager there as well. She holds a Master of Science degree in Government Information Leadership with a concentration in Strategic Cyberspace and Information Warfare, a Master of Science in Project Management and a Bachelor of Arts.
