Florida-based L3Harris Technologies, a defense technology company, recently received a multi-year contract for an undisclosed amount to support the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marines.
The company will provide the armed services with 34 large T7 robots. The robots have enhanced capabilities for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) missions and keep troops safe by neutralizing explosive threats from a distance. The robotic systems provide mobility, manipulation and intuitive control.
“Recognized by both the Navy and Marines for outstanding dexterity and performance, L3Harris T7 robotic systems will provide them a significant advantage for their most challenging EOD missions,” Dave Kornick, L3Harris Intelligence and Cyber, Space and Mission Systems president, said. “We’re honored to continue working with the Department of (Defense) and our key partners in the U.K. and Australia, who also use the most advanced robotic technology available.”
Under the terms of the contract, the company also will provide robotic system and comprehensive operator training. Deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year.
In 2021, the U.S. Air Force ordered more than 100 robots. The Australian Defence Force and U.K. Ministry of Defence have ordered large T7 and medium-sized T4 robots.
L3Harris provides end-to-end technology solutions connecting space, air, land, sea and cyber in the interest of national security.
