The U.S. government recently awarded global defense technology company Lockheed Martin a $4.7 billion, multibillion-dollar contract to continue critical accelerated production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE).
Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will be able to accelerate production of the MSE and deliver record numbers of them this year. The contract is part of the Department of Defense’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy that includes tripling production of the PAC-3 MSE interceptor.
“Our investments in our facilities, workforce and supply chain ensure we can deliver at scale and with speed,” Tim Cahill, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control president, said. “With the right tools, proven processes and skilled employees in place, we are positioned to deliver a record number of munitions in support of the warfighter and our allies.”
PAC-3 MSE is an advanced air defense missile that provides defense against a wide range of threats.
Over the past decade, Lockheed Martin has invested more than $7 billion to expand capacity for priority systems. This includes approximately $2 billion to accelerate munitions production. The company also recently opened the Rapid Fielding Center to offer U.S. government customers end-to-end development, testing and prototype production of next-generation systems and solutions and broke ground on the Munitions Acceleration Center.
