Virginia-based Northrop Grumman, an aerospace and defense technology company, and Florida-based Aeronix, an advanced secure communication, networking, and surveillance technologies provider, recently created a multimillion-dollar strategic partnership to accelerate the development of advanced space-based cryptographic systems.

The partnership will combine Northrop Grumman’s cyber, space and defense expertise with Aeronix’s advanced cryptology and secure communications.

“Threats to our information and communications are evolving faster than ever,” Nate Smith, Aeronix Technologies Group C6ISR division president, said. “Our collaboration with Northrop Grumman is built on anticipating those threats and adapting quickly, so our customers have a decisive edge in any mission, whether operating on the ground, in the air, at sea or on space-based defense platforms that require the highest levels of data protection.”

The partners will develop applications to increase the speed of classified data processing and transmission five-fold and to enhance mission-critical information protection in space and across multi-domain environments.

The partnership will focus on four tasks. It will develop advanced cryptographic applications to protect data at rest, in transit and in use aboard space-based defense platforms and networks. It will invest in and field specialized cryptographic devices to secure classified data within critical mission systems and adapt to emerging and future threats through modular, open architecture designs and continuous technology refresh. It will deliver scalable solutions for integration into existing and next-generation platforms, networks and systems.
