Massachusetts-based Raytheon, a defense solutions provider, recently completed a $50 million, 17,000-square-foot expansion of its Forest, Miss., manufacturing facility to boost production capacity for critical electronic warfare and radar systems.

“Completing this expansion underscores our long-term commitment to Forest and the state of Mississippi,” Barbara Borgonovi, Raytheon Naval Power president, said. “Together with state and local partners, we’re building the workforce, infrastructure and capabilities needed to boost production in support of critical national defense programs.”

The facility now includes 445,000 square feet of manufacturing space, making it one of the largest defense manufacturing factories in the state.

Raytheon has completed three facility expansions totaling $280 million over the past 10 years. In 2013, it added 20,000 square feet, and a 50,000 square‑foot radar production and testing facility was built in 2020.

The 2026 expansion is expected to create 100 jobs by 2028 and will allow the facility to serve as a hub for the production, testing and integration of Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band pods for the U.S. Navy and Australian government. It also will produce components for other airborne radar programs.

Raytheon produces technologies for integrated air and missile defense, smart weapons, missiles, advanced sensors and radars, interceptors, space-based systems, hypersonics and missile defense.
