Battelle secures new DoD cyber security contract

Battelle announced on Thursday that it has been awarded s Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) Cyber Security and Information Systems Technical Area Tasks (CS TAT) five-year, Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the Department of Defense.

The new contract succeeds the Software Networks Information Modeling and Simulation $2 billion DTIC IDIQ contract that was in place. The new contract calls for similar work, but with an additional $3 billion dollars in funding.

“We are gratified to have the opportunity to be able to continue the important work of helping the Department of Defense strengthen cybersecurity measures under this new contract,” Lisa McCauley, general manager of Battelle’s Cyber Innovations business unit said. “That means we, along with our outstanding teammates, are able to further deliver expert solutions to our clients.”

The DTIC’s methods for assessing who will be awarded contracts have changed in the last few years, making the process much more competitive. Instead of awarding a only one contract to a single entity, it now provides a few high qualified candidates the chance to compete for multiple award contracts.

Battelle, however, has won each of the four DTIC MAC contracts to include Software Networks Information Modeling, Homeland Defense Technical Area Task, Defense Systems Technical Area Task and now the new Cyber Security contract.
