U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on Thursday the opening of a Global Entry Enrollment Center in Port Clinton that will operate as a center for processing applicants for CBP’s trusted traveler programs, including Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI.
Enrollment centers like the new location in Port Clinton process low-risk travelers as they enter into the United States.
Port Clinton is the third Enrollment Center in Ohio that features the Global Entry program, which allows pre-approved travelers to bypass the typical CBP line and simply scan their passports at an automated kiosk.
The Global Entry program is massively successful and has grown to 52 locations, including 11 preclearance locations outside the U.S.
Locations like the Port Clinton enrollment service facilitate and process approximately 99 percent of the travelers entering the U.S. each year. U.S. citizens who enroll in the Global Entry program automatically become enrolled in the TSA Pre✓ for domestic travel.
“We are pleased to open a Global Entry Enrollment Center in Sandusky Bay for those hoping to join the ranks of trusted traveler,” Marc Hurteau, Area Port director for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said. “The new enrollment center provides a convenient, local center for people to complete their application process.”
