The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) held a recruitment event at the Pembina Port of Entry on Saturday to offer potential officers a “behind the scenes look” at CBP.
The event was attended by 31 prospective applicant interested in current and upcoming job announcements with the CBP. The meeting included an overview of the agency, a port tour, staged inspection demonstrations, and a question and answer period.
“We continue to look for ways to reach perspective applicants interested in becoming a member of the CBP workforce,” Area Port Director Jason Schmelz said. “We have positions open at several of our ports of entry within the state of North Dakota and this event is just one of many avenues we are using to reach those interested in the CBP officer position.”
All prospective applicants were required to be be citizens and residents of the United States. Potential candidates had to have been recruited before their 37th birthday and have a valid driver’s license. Additionally, applicants had to pass an entrance examination, medical examination, physical fitness assessments, video-based test or structural interviews, a drug test, background checks, and a polygraph examination. Approximately 30 percent of all CBP officers are military veterans.
