CBP agents make arrests, seizures in three separate incidents in one day

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents on Monday made arrests and seizures of illegal narcotics in three separate incidents.

The first incident began when camera operators noticed a suspicious vehicle traveling north on a Forest Service road outside of Sonoita, Arizona. After unsuccessfully trying to meet the vehicle where the service road connected to Highway 83, agents headed for a primitive service road only to discover the vehicle hidden underneath camouflage netting. Multiple bricks of marijuana were visible in the vehicle, leading to agents seizing the vehicle and more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana. The street value for the marijuana was approximately $800,000.

Less than an hour later, an agent from Nogales Border Patrol approached a suspicious individual believed to have been an undocumented migrant. The man fled the officer and climbed a pedestrian awning near the Mariposa Port of Entry. When the agent got close, the man began kicking the officer in the head. After a brief struggle, the man, a 15-year old Mexican national, was placed under arrest and sent to the Nogales Border Patrol station for further processing.

Three hours later, agents assigned near the I-9 checkpoint encountered a suspicious blue vehicle occupied by four individuals. After brief questioning, it was determined that two of the four individuals had fraudulent immigration documents. All four individuals were taken into custody and are being processed accordingly.
