U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs and Eagle Pass stations recently apprehended two previously convicted sex offenders during separate incidents.
The first incident occurred on Sept. 24 when agents arrested Pedro Gomez-Vidal, a 24-year-old undocumented migrant from Mexico, near the Carrizo Springs station. Officers discovered that Gomez-Vidal was convicted of felony carnal knowledge of a minor in Prince William County Circuit Court in Virginia in 2012 and was sentenced to five years in prison and then deported. Gomez-Vidal now faces a charge of illegal re-entry after a previous deportation, a sentence that could span up to 20 years in prison.
Four days later, officers assigned to the Eagle Pass station apprehended a 63-year-old undocumented migrant from Guatemala named Hector Edmundo Pinto-Machorro. During routine processing, agents discovered that Pinto-Machorro was convicted of indecency with a child in San Antonio in February and was deported to Guatemala. Pinto-Machorro now faces a charge of illegal re-entry after a deportation.
“This is another excellent example of our agents’ expertise and vigilance in preventing dangerous criminals from entering the United States,” Matthew J. Hudak, acting chief patrol agent of the Del Rio Sector, said. “We’re proud of our agents and the dedication demonstrated daily in support of the Border Patrol’s mission.”
