U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Nogales Port Director Michael Humphries was recently sworn into office during a formal ceremony held at the Mariposa crossing in Arizona.

Humphries will ensure customs and agriculture inspections are in-line with U.S. laws and regulations and will oversee operations combating illicit drugs and illegal terrorist weapons. He also will ensure immigration across the border is carried out responsibly and legally.

As port director, Humphries will be in charge of two border crossings, Dennis DeConcini and Mariposa, and the Morley pedestrian gate, the Rio Rico railyard and Nogales International Airport. He will oversee hundreds of employees including CBP officers, and mission support, import, and agriculture specialists.

“I am humbled to have been selected as the new port director,” Humphries said. “The men and women in Nogales are an impressive team,” “Since my arrival, I have experienced nothing but great collaboration that is already in place in Ambos Nogales.” “I look forward to engaging further with the community and local stakeholders.”

Humphries has been in federal service for 31 years, beginning with the U.S. Customs Service.

He has served as port director at the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry in Douglas, A, and assistant director of field operations in Tucson.
