The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD) has recognized Armament Systems & Procedures (ASP) for its Transport Kit via the Public Safety Product Innovation Award.
The Transport Kit, which received the recognition during the recent NAUMD convention held jointly with the National Association of Police Equipment Distributors (NAPED) in New Orleans, consists of either a chain or belt waist restraint integrated with ASP’s Rigid Ultra Cuffs.
Product developers said the design and construction of the system allows the waist component to be applied, adjusted or removed without the need to adjust or remove the handcuffs while featuring a lock that auto-engages without a key present or exposed.
“ASP winning the Best Public Safety Product Innovation category for their Transport Kit exemplifies the reason we created this award,” NAUMD President Steve Zalkin said. “Just two years ago, a local Deputy was killed, and a second Deputy injured when a convict escaped during transport and took one of the deputies’ firearms. ASP has created a product that enhances law enforcement safety and NAUMD is proud to honor them with this award.”
ASP Vice President of Sales Daryell Harmon said industry response to the Transport Kit has been the most dramatic of any of the company’s recent product launches.
“The number of Testing and Evaluation requests from around the world has been overwhelming,” Harmon said. “Correctional facilities and law enforcement agencies immediately recognize the benefits of the new system and especially appreciate the officer safety considerations.”
