Northrup Grumman Corporation announced Monday it had opened a new building in Colorado Springs to support its advanced missile defense and strategic deterrent businesses.

The new facility will feature advanced engineering, research labs, software development factories and a high-speed, multi-secured communications network that will allow the company’s staff to communicate more effectively. The space will allow for added flexibility for future expansion and growth, the company said.

“Northrop Grumman is at the forefront of defense research,” Blake Larson, corporate vice president and president, Northrop Grumman Space Systems, said. “Our new labs and collaborative zones better enable us to deliver innovative solutions that help to protect and defend our nation and its allies.”

Northrup’s Missile Defense Solutions team is involved in several large Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs including the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract, the Ground-based Missile Defense program and the Command, Control, Battle Management program.

The company’s Strategic Deterrent Systems are involved with the U.S. Air Forces Ground-based Strategic Deterrent Program designed to modernize the land-based leg of the American strategic nuclear triad.

As one of the leading aerospace and defense companies located in Colorado, Northrup employs more than 2,200 people across the state and supports key customers including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force and intelligence community.

“We are pleased to have Northrop Grumman’s missile defense solutions and strategic deterrent teams move into this new building,” Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said. “It demonstrates Northrop Grumman’s continued commitment to the local community here in Colorado Springs.”
