U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) will serve as Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection chairman for the 119th Congress.
The subcommittee maintains oversight of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and other U.S. Department of Homeland Security cybersecurity missions and operations. It focuses on advancing cooperation between the federal government and nonfederal owners and operators of the critical infrastructure, protecting federal networks, and strengthening critical infrastructure security and resilience.
“As chairman of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee, I vow to leverage every federal asset to fortify the cyber capabilities of every American city,” Ogles said. “I vow to hold accountable the hackers, doxxers, and cyber terrorists waging war against our land. America First cybersecurity is my mission, and I will not waver. Thank you to Chairman Garbarino for the appointment and for trusting me to carry this mantle forward.”
The House of Representatives passed legislation on Tuesday that the House Committee on Homeland Security advanced earlier this year. Ogles introduced both bills.
The Strengthening Cyber Resilience Against State-Sponsored Threats Act would require the federal government to assess and mitigate growing cyber threats to U.S. critical infrastructure originating in China.
The Protecting Information by Local Leaders for Agency Resilience Act would re-authorize the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program.
