The U.S. Army recently established Army Rapid Implementation of AI (Project ARIA) to identify, analyze and develop AI-driven solutions to three of the Army’s top problems.

The Army partnered with artificial intelligence, technology, and industry experts as the project seeks to integrate AI into the Army’s internal business processes, create AI model delivery capabilities to tactical formations, and create an AI-informed supply chain for the organic industrial base.

Three Project ARIA teams developed an execution plan and business proposal that demonstrate the operational and strategic need for AI capabilities and the long-term value of the solutions. The teams now will execute their plans and develop their solutions.

Project ARIA is seeking nominations for future development efforts. Army personnel can submit nominations by Feb. 6 for future Project ARIA candidates at the CAC-enabled survey.

Submissions must include specific details on a problem, the potential benefit of a meaningful and lasting AI-enabled solution for the Army, and a long-term capability owner. Submissions also must include a project lead with the rank of GS-15 or O-6 level who will be responsible for planning and developing the project.

Project ARIA is led by the Deputy Under Secretary of the Army Mr. David R. Fitzgerald.
