The Republic of Poland was chosen at a NATO Conference of National Armaments Directors meeting on Tuesday to be the host nation for the European Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Maintenance Facility.

The announcement was made by the U.S. government in coordination with Lockheed Martin and European allies.

The facility will maintain, repair and overhaul defense technology. The goal is to keep launchers loaded, sustain critical operations and ensure NATO Allies are prepared to fight by shortening turnaround times and securing critical supply lines. It will enhance operational readiness for Allied air and missile defense forces, ensure rapid surge capacity during crisis and reinforce credible collective deterrence along NATO’s Eastern Front.

“Delivering for warfighters — anytime, anywhere — is how we deter our adversaries and strengthen collective defense,” Michael P. Duffey, under secretary of war for acquisition and sustainment, said. “Today’s announcement puts partnership into action. By investing national resources to establish this critical sustainment capability on NATO’s Eastern Front, Allies are sending a clear message: the Alliance is united, serious about deterrence, and ready to back our words with action.”

Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden will lead supply chain integration.

The facility advances defense industrial commitments made at the Ankara Summit in July under the NATO 3.0 framework.
