Anduril, an American defense technology company, announced recently it will join Qualcomm to produce a new product line dedicated to rebuilding American computer manufacturing.

The companies said the line, BlueChip, will develop American-built computing hardware for America’s most critical industries, such as government, defense, first responders and public safety. The companies will start with a laptop designed and assembled in the United States, they said. From there, the companies said they would be rebuilding the suppliers, manufacturing processes and expertise needed to produce these systems at scale.

The companies said BlueChip will utilize Qualcomm’s expertise in high-performance, power-efficient computing, as well as Anduril’s work to rebuild domestic computer manufacturing. Qualcomm will supply their Snapdragon X Series, and Anduril will use it to develop prototypes of the first BlueChip laptop. The company intends to begin taking orders in 2027.

Anduril is also a bonding process to incorporate U.S.-made display glass. Other components sourced from the U.S. and allied-country suppliers account for more than 90 percent of the BlueChip prototype’s component procurement cost. Anduril said it is working to expand domestic component production ahead of the system’s planned availability in 2027, with the long-term goal of building a fully domestic supply chain.

BlueChip laptops will be manufactured in the U.S, the companies said, with circuit board assembly planned for Anduril’s Arsenal-1 facility in Ohio. The company said it is developing domestic production capabilities for enclosures, battery components and other hardware while qualifying suppliers and preparing for production.
