The U.S. Space Force’s Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) will hold job fairs across the country as it works to fill more than 400 civilian positions.

The military branch said it was expanding its civilian workforce with a hiring surge of civilians who can help STARCOM fulfill its role as the service’s field command for accessions, training, testing, wargaming and education.

“STARCOM exists to forge the world’s most combat-credible space force and that mission depends on the strength of our total workforce,” Maj. Gen. James E. Smith, STARCOM commander, said. “These new teammates will be vital to helping us expand the pipelines. We’re looking for talented civilians who are ready to join us in developing Guardians and validating systems that will secure our nation’s interests in, from and to space.”

Headquartered at Patrick Space Force Base near Cape Canaveral in Florida, STARCOM provides training for Space Force Guardians in how to operate in an increasingly contested space domain. Civilian personnel make up about a third of Space Force’s workforce, with another third being officers and the remaining third being enlisted Guardians.

Civilian positions are available at Patrick Space Force Base in Florida, as well as Schriever SFB, in Colorado; Vandenberg SFB, in California; Joint Base Andrews, in Maryland: and other units across the country.

STARCOM will host a career fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 21 at The Tides Club at Patrick Space Force Base. Additional career fairs are being scheduled for May at Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Vandenberg SFB. Available positions range from aerospace and systems engineering to cybersecurity and network operations to modeling, simulation and wargaming, among other disciplines.
