CBP agents detain 10 individuals illegally present in the United States

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents stationed at the Buffalo Border Patrol Station arrested 10 individuals found illegally in the United States on Aug. 8.

The incident began as an Orchard Park police officer encountered 13 male individuals trespassing on an elementary school’s property. Due to the number of subjects, the officer called for assistance. Agents assigned to the Buffalo Border Patrol station responded to the call and discovered that 10 of the 13 individuals were citizens of Mexico and illegally present in the United States. Multiple individuals had prior immigration-related violations and criminal records.

Of the 13 individuals, eight were arrested and detained at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia for further processing. Two other subjects were later released after presenting proper documentation and were instructed to contact U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

“Collaboration between border patrol and local law enforcement agencies is of the utmost importance,” Corey Jones, public affairs agents for the Buffalo Sector CBP, said. “We are committed to keeping our communities safe and are proud of our partnerships with all law enforcement agencies in the Buffalo-Niagara area.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of the nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry.
